A Good Cause for Celebration

Enjoy an evening in Casa Teresa, one of the finest custom homes ever built in Orlando. Featuring Spanish Eclectic architecture and state-of-the-art technology, the home is available now and is competitively priced. The home was built by Goehring & Morgan. The event offers local companies the opportunity to get in front of Orlando's most affluent demographic. Saks Fifth Avenue will be providing clothing for the electric fashion show which will take place during the evening. BMG models will be styled by celebrity stylist Tammara Kohler of Fused Fashion.

All of the proceeds of this event benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida Downtown Orlando Hughes Branch. The proceeds will be used to assist the branch with meeting their daily needs. We have incurred very little cost in putting the event together which means the majority of your donation will go directly to servicing the needs of the club.

The branch opened in January 1993, on the property of the Coalition for the Homeless to serve the children whose families live at the Coalition Family Shelter.  The first Boys & Girls Club in the country specifically established to provide services to the homeless community in an American city.  Housed in two portables, this Club had 177 members as at September 30, 2008: 53% boys, 47% girls; 51% African-American, 26% Hispanic, 19% Multi-Racial, 3% Caucasian, 1% Native American; 70% came from single-parent families; 100% free/reduced lunch.

Our Downtown Boys & Girls Club is succeeding:

  • Our Downtown Branch members are surrounded by crime, yet there was only one (1) arrest among members at this Club in 2008.
  • During 2008, there were NO pregnancies among the 47 female members ages 10-18 of our Downtown Branch.  There were 1,077 babies born to girls 18 and younger in Orange County. (FL Dept. of Vital Statistics, 2006, latest available)
  • 100% of all Downtown Club members who were high school seniors during the 2007-08 school year graduated.  The local high school graduation rate for Orange County was 71.7%. (FL Dept. of Education, 2007)
